Chlamydia is the most common STD in Australia. 80% of people infected with Chlamydia do not know about it.
Some patients may experience frequent painful urination, abdominal and back pain, tiredness.
Infection with Chlamydia leads to infertility in women and sterility in men. This infection may lead to other complications such as difficult pregnancy and labour. Some women due to blockage of the ovarian tubes are at risk of ectopic pregnancy – a potentially lethal condition.
A positive test indicates an active infection that requires treatment with a course of antibiotics.
