HIV

This test measures antibodies to the HIV virus. HIV virus is slowly destroying the immune system of an individual. That results in infections, cancers and death.

HIV virus may be acquired during intimate intercourse or via sharing a syringe with an infected person.

The antibodies can be detected as early as 3-4 weeks after exposure, but mostly at 3 months.

Any level of HIV antibodies most likely represents an HIV infection and needs immediate medical attention.

HIV is part of the STI/STD testing panel.
